Access, Ctd. (Graces and Mercies, Temporal Echoes of the Eternal)

While reflecting more on yesterday’s posting about our access to God through Christ, the song “I Will Lift My Eyes” by Bebo Norman got stuck in my head and won’t leave. I consider it my personal anthem through this season.

That song came out when Tim Vanderveld had his first cancer diagnosis and I had my disc re-herniate; I’d always tear up at the line, “I will lift my eyes to the Maker of the mountains I can’t climb,” because of how literally true it was (being upable to even lift an infant Chloe at the time).

I’ve always thought Berean should do an arrangement of it — it’s not just a nice song, but a very “real” one. Not a “happy” one, but sometimes (like now) life isn’t “happy”.

It’s a good song; hold onto it.

We’re all in prayer for you — Candela prays for Ian every night — and are here for whatever you need. Keep writing as you can, Tom; I wish the circumstances were better, but I’m glad we can stay in touch this way and I can hear what’s on your heart.
